Arriving

Every group is welcomed at the door by a local host who speaks English and Japanese. They will show you around the house and stay in touch throughout your visit. Your host contacts you before you travel to help plan a smooth arrival.

By air

Asahikawa Airport is the closest, about an hour away by road. New Chitose Airport near Sapporo has far more international and domestic connections and is about two and a half hours by road. Domestic flights from Tokyo to Hokkaido take around 90 minutes, and the modest time difference makes Furano an easy trip from Australia and New Zealand.

By train and bus

JR trains run to Furano Station from Sapporo, changing at Takikawa, and from Asahikawa. Seasonal buses connect both airports with Furano. From the station a taxi to Yuki-Jo takes a few minutes.

By car

Yuki-Jo has garage space for four cars, generous storage for luggage and ski gear, and a lift to every floor. Winter driving in Hokkaido takes care: allow extra time and make sure your hire car has winter tyres.
